relates to churches to equip, encourage and resource them as they fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission
Thank you for joining us at our 31st Annual Meeting
Monday, October 21, 2013
Rev. Eno Mondesir, newly installed Pastor of the Haitian Baptist Church of Cambridge shared a Message from the Word. Mondesir grew up in Haiti and has been living in Massachusetts for the past 25 years. He has served in the public health arena for more than 15 years. Before accepting the call at the Haitian Baptist Church of Cambridge, he served at Voice of the Gospel Tabernacle in Mattapan.
We were blessed by the music brought to us by the Worship Team at Iglesia Bautista la Mission, Lynn and the Timothy Baptist Mass Choir (pictured above), Roxbury. A great thanks for this array of special music that touched all the hearts present!!!
The Greater Boston Baptist Association welcomed three new churches as members. They included:
Church of the Redeemer, Sandwich, MA (Rev. John-Paul Lotz, Pastor)
International Community Church, Boston, MA (Rev. Paul Biswas, Pastor)
Grace Truth Community Church, Cambridge, MA (Rev. Seung Hwan-Kim)
During the Business Session, Carlos Oliveira presented the 2014 Budget which passed unanimously. The Administrative Leadership Team presented a recommendation to provide for an additional option in the Director of Missions search process and that was to look at the role as two part-time positions. The two positions would be Director of Administration and Personnel and Director of Missions/Ministries/Pastoral Development. The roles would be 20 hours per week and would be sharing the leadership although their responsibilities would be clearly defined. The rationale included the fact that denominational work is changing and as an association we need to be evolving to meet these changes. It was also noted that because of financial challenges ahead, this option would allow the GBBA to utilize the funds more economically. Also, it might encourage local candidates in our Association or region to apply. It was also noted that if the Association continues to grow and the need for full-time arises, the Association could then make future decisions regarding compensation and hours. After some good, healthy discussion the recommendation was tabled and sent back to the Administrative Leadership Team for further clarification. There was an expectation that a special called business meeting would be held in the near future to continue the discussion. Before that meeting the Administrative Leadership will be sure to give messengers more time to study job descriptions and other information that the Administrative Leadership Team would prepare for the discussion.
